The benefits of preferential voting are well known: (i) to allow voters to vote "sincerely" rather than "strategically"; (ii) ensure that all elected officials are minimally supported by a majority of voters; (iii) favor political parties interested in integrating elements of other parties into their platform. Should we consider preferential voting as a "citizen's right", for example, as the universality or confidentiality of the vote?
