ASIAT DEPAVE
Green With Grey International Summer School

The Green With Grey (GWG) project envisions the industrial platforms of Flanders as progressively and surgically softened areas (Green) that concurrently function as source and place of production (Grey).

The leading obsession of the GWG project—initiated in 2019 as part of the “Proeftuinen Ontharding” (tests projects concerning desealing) initiated by the Flamish Government and launched by the Departement “Omgeving”—is how to unpave the industrial site while increasing its productivity. This means also questioning what a GWG production actually is.

The GWG team (Latitude Platform, KU Leuven, UCLouvain) organizes the Asiat Depave Summer School as the first act of depaving. This intensive onsite educational moment addressed to master and bachelor students, and young professionals is constellated by a number of activities that, besides academics and professionals, involve also local players such as municipalities, manufacturers and the general public. Asiat Depave coagulates onsite concrete actions and initiates the desealing pilot project. Participants will enact the production stages of desealing (demolishing, materials sorting, reuse/ recycling) while also testing the socio-technical devices associated to each phase.
