1st International Conference on Parental Burnout

Parenting can be wonderful. However, it can also be stressful, and when parents lack the resources needed to handle stressors related to parenting, they may develop parental burnout. This condition is characterized by an overwhelming exhaustion related to one’s parental role, an emotional distancing from one’s children, and a sense of parental ineffectiveness.

Research on parental burnout is pretty recent, but it literally exploded in 2017-2018. The field developed so quickly that a large number of countries around the world are now investigating the phenomenon.

The International Investigation of Parental Burnout, a consortium initiated and led by Professors Roskam & Mikolajczak, now gathers 40 countries around the globe.

The 1st international Conference on Parental Burnout aims to bring together all researchers interested in parental burnout. It is a unique occasion to gather not only the researchers of the Consortium but also all other researchers interested in the topic.

The Conference will be held at UCLouvain in Belgium on 2019, December 6-7. UCLouvain is a university with a unique and surprising character. It is also a good starting point to discover the wonderful Capital of Europe: Brussels, which is only 35 minutes away! Brussels is 1h20 from Paris by train and 2h00 from London.
