Le Séminaire de droit de l’environnement et de l’urbanisme (SERES) de l’Université catholique de Louvain (Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgique) engage un·e juriste chargé·e de recherche post-doctorant·e à 100 % pendant 6 mois, si possible à partir du 1er juillet 2019, pour la réalisation d’une recherche en droit de l’environnement dans le cadre d’un projet de recherche interdisciplinaire sur la connectivité des paysages pour les espèces forestières (WOODNET) cofinancé par la Commission européenne (BiodivERsA). Ce projet a démarré en 2017 et se termine en 2020 (plus de détail sur https://www.biodiversa.org/1026).
Objet de la recherche
La recherche consiste principalement dans la rédaction d’un rapport juridique en anglais sur la connectivité, l’infrastructure verte et différentes questions comme la prise en compte de l’incertitude par la gestion adaptative. Le travail s’effectuera en collaboration avec l’équipe de juristes de l’Université de Rennes dirigée par Mme Dr Alexandra Langlais. Une interaction avec les écologues partenaires est indispensable. Elle implique également des tâches d’organisation de séminaire et d’appui à l’organisation d’une réunion des partenaires en Belgique.
Le projet étant déjà en cours depuis 2017, le travail à mener tiendra compte des réalisations des partenaires écologues des années précédentes et de données déjà récoltées.
Le projet devrait aboutir à une publication en anglais sous la forme d’une ou plusieurs contributions à un ouvrage ou d’article(s) à publier dans une revue peer review juridique ou interdisciplinaire.
Profil recherché :
- Doctorat en droit ou équivalent
- Goût pour la recherche interdisciplinaire, esprit critique et bon esprit d’analyse
- Autonomie et sens de l’organisation ; capacité d’adaptation au travail en équipe
- Excellente capacité rédactionnelle en anglais
- Connaissance de la problématique de la biodiversité et des infrastructures vertes et bleues et de ses multiples enjeux
- Intérêt pour les aspects non juridiques de la conservation de la biodiversité constitue un atout.

The Seminar on Environmental and Urban Planning Law (SERES) of the Catholic University of Louvain (Louvain-La-Neuve, Belgium) is recruiting a lawyer who will be 100% post-doctoral research fellow for 6 months, if possible from 1st July 2019, for environmental law research as part of an interdisciplinary research project on landscape connectivity for forest species (WOODNET) co-funded by the European Commission (BiodivERsA), which started in 2017 and ends in 2020 (more details on https://www.biodiversa.org/1026).
Purpose of the research
The research consists mainly of writing a legal report in English on connectivity, green infrastructure and various issues such as addressing uncertainty through adaptive management. The work will be carried out in collaboration with the team of lawyers from the University of Rennes headed by Dr Alexandra Langlais. Interaction with partner ecologists is essential. It also involves workshop organisation and support for the organisation of a partners' meeting in Belgium.
As the project has already been underway since 2017, the work to be carried out will take into account the achievements of the ecologist partners in previous years and data already collected.
The project should result in publication in English in the form of one or more contributions to a book or article(s) to be published in a legal or interdisciplinary peer review journal.
Required profile :
- PhD in law or equivalent
- A taste for interdisciplinary research, critical and analytical skills
- Autonomy and organizational skills; ability to adapt to teamwork
- Excellent writing skills in English
- Knowledge of biodiversity and green and blue infrastructure issues and their multiple challenges
- Interest in the non-legal aspects of biodiversity conservation is an asset.
