In order to expand contemporary knowledge and strengthen international academic cooperation on biodiversity litigation, The Law & Development Research Group at the Faculty of Law and the Institute of Development Policy at the University of Antwerp hosts on June 3, 2022 an international online workshop on biodiversity litigation characterized both by geographical focus and transversal reflections.

This particular workshop will be an opportunity to bring together the participants and topics of 2 previous workshops. Rather than presentations, this workshop will be organized as a round-table of all participants (speakers and participants) to the previous presentations.

Webinar: Recent Developments in European Environmental Law Jurisprudence

The IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law (WCEL) is a global network of experts in environmental law and policy. On August 28th and September 04th, IUCN organised webinars in which leading academics and judges will give an overview of recent European environmental case law.

Supranational courts in Europe, particularlythe European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) and the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) have delivered important environmental judgments in recent times. Several national court cases,like the iconic Urgendacase on climate change,have also triggered the interest of environmental lawyers, not only in Europe, but globally.

Summer school in European Environmental Taxation - June 2020

University of Naples is organizing a Summer School in European Environmental Taxation from 22nd to 28th June 2020 with the support of European Union (Jean Monnet Module 611159-EPP-1-2019-1-IT-EPPJMO-MODULE). It is a seven-day residential course where 20 undergraduate students who are achieving their degree in law or economics or postgraduate students (master or Ph.D.) will learn the fundamentals of European environmental taxation, becoming aware of the complex economic and social issues related to this topic. SUSEET has been designed to provide participants with suitable expertise on environmental taxation, useful both for the construction of an academic career and for a professional one, contributing to the creation of a new generation of European environmental tax lawyers. It will provide the
occasion for participants coming from all over the world to discuss with eminent professors or experts working in this field.

Managing forests in the 21st century

In March 2020, Yelena Gordeeva, postdoctoral researcher at the SERES, will be attending the international conference "Managing Forests in the 21st century" at the Potsdam-Institute for Climate Impact Research. She will be presenting a paper "Adaptive (Forest) Management as a Tool to Deal with Uncertainty under EU Green Infrastructure Policy and Law".

The paper is presented as part of an environmental law research project, part of an interdisciplinary research project on landscape connectivity for forest species (WOODNET) co-funded by the European Commission (BiodivERsA).
