Take-home exam

The take-home exam is a format that students can take wherever they want; it is not supervised and is carried out a priori without restriction of resources. Its time varies from a few hours to a few days.

At first glance, you might think that take-home exams are easier since you have access to all resources. However, this type of exam requires solid preparation if you do not want to get lost in the mass of available information, spread yourself too thin, and fail to deliver what the professor expects.

Prepare for the exam

To prepare well, it is advisable to:

  • reread your notes thoroughly so as to ensure that you have understood all aspects of the subject;
  • target essential resources, understand and arrange them (bookmarks, summaries, etc.) so as to quickly find the requested information;
  • understand the main course concepts and consider what ties them together and their possible practical implications;
  • prepare as if you were taking a written exam in the classroom (a good night’s sleep, proper clothing, drinks and snacks on hand, etc.).

Expected exam behaviour

It is forbidden to:

  • collaborate with others;
  • plagiarise:
    • Your work is analysed by Compilatio anti-plagiarism software. It is essential to systematically cite the sources that directly influence the content of your work, according to standards specified by the professor. We expect you to fully respect the Academic Regulations and Procedures, especially regarding plagiarism.

PEPS students

If you are a PEPS student, your educational guide will contact you, e.g. with regard to possible modifications, especially for instructions regarding font sizes.

Problems during the exam?

If a technical problem arises when submitting your work to Moodle, report it to the professor in writing via institutional messaging and within the time limit set by the professor.
