The long-standing desire for a profound understanding of the surrounding physical phenomena has led to numerous scientific breakthroughs, which are mirrored in the development of formalism and the means to predict the behavior of these abstract systems. In the language of mathematical physics, these phenomenons are described through the lenses of a particular entity: the partial differential equations (PDEs), which aid the comprehension of an abstract physical system’s life cycle through time and space.

The numerical methods represent a driving force in finding the solution of the specific PDE, requiring discretization of both the equations and the geometrical model on which the computation is performed, and are used in many fields: aeronautics, automotive design, meteorology, fluid mechanics, soil mechanics, biomechanics, medical imaging, civil engineering, electrical engineering, and electronics.

The subject of this thesis is precisely targeting the challenging issue of discretization of geometrical models, i.e., robust and high-quality block-structured quadrilateral mesh generation. In order to reach this goal, the rigorous mathematical background served as the foundation and motivation for developing the corresponding methodology. The exploration of Ginzburg-Landau PDE and its related theory, previously known in the field of superconductors, as well as the properties of an auxiliary object cross-field hand-in-hand with the use of a quad layout concept, turned out to be very fruitful idea for this matter.
