Agathe Piquet is FRS-FNRS Research Fellow (Chargée de recherche FRS-FNRS) at UCLouvain Saint-Louis Bruxelles and a member of the European Studies Institute. Using EU studies, public policy and security studies, her current research project examines the fight against environmental crime in Europe, with a specific focus on the collaboration between police officers and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in this "green policing". It uses qualitative methods and comparison of four case studies (Belgium, Denmark, France and Spain) to account for convergence/divergence. This project is part of a broader research agenda dedicated to the analysis of the contemporary transformations of internal security policies and actors.
Before joining UCLouvain Saint-Louis Bruxelles, she received her doctorate in political science at Panthéon-Assas University in Paris, entitled “Europol, a European police? Creation and autonomisation of an agency” under the supervision of Professor Yves Surel. From 2020 to 2022 she was a post-doctoral researcher at Queen Mary University in London and was part of the NEXTEUK Project on the future of the EU-UK relations, a Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence Project co-funded by the Erasmus + Programme of the European Union. In 2022 she obtained a FSR (Fonds spéciaux de recherche) Research Grant at Saint-Louis University, before being awarded the FRS-FNRS Research Fellowship.
