Frauke Ohler is a PhD student in political science at the 'Institut de sciences politique Louvain-Europe' (ISPOLE) at the UCLouvain and a research fellow of the Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique (FNRS). Her doctoral research focuses on the role of the European Union in contemporary global environmental politics. Her main focus are the EU’s ambition, activity and influence in the Convention on Biological Diversity, the UN Environment Assembly as well as the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions. She has been a visiting scholar at the Université de Montréal in 2019. Frauke is a Senior Consultant at the Centre for Multilateral Negotiations (CEMUNE).
She holds a Master in European Studies from the UCLouvain and a Bachelor degree in Social Sciences from the University of Dusseldorf. Prior to her PhD studies, Frauke worked as a student assistant with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation in Brussels for two years.
Frauke speaks fluently German, English and French.
Research interest: External Action of the European Union, the EU in contemporary global environmental governance, outside-in and inside-out perspective.
Environmental politics, mainly biodiversity, chemicals, nature conservation, climate change and the UN Environmental Assembly.
