Sectoral Policies Environmental protection results in legal obligations concerning the conservation of natural environments and the fight against harmful effects. The intensity of these obligations is directly dependant on international commitments and the developments of European Union legislation. It is also governed by considerations that are specific to Belgian domestic legislation. The object of the course is threefold: - to analyse the contents of some of these policies known as “sectoral”; - to present the driving forces underlying these policies, from a more horizontal point of view, concerning the articulation between the various decision-making arenas, the types of instruments and their legal implications or even the link with expertise and scientific demonstration; - to analyse the way in which the supranational obligations related to these “sectoral” aspects are integrated into the various Belgian administrative policies. |
