Human rights are not just an abstract ideal, nor just legal norms. Human rights are also a definite social form, unique to each period of time. The objective of this course is to study this social form, that is to say the way in which human rights, in their multiple dimensions, objectify themselves in social practices. It will therefore be a question of analyzing how human rights are embodied in discourses, demands, militant activities, instruments of public action, but also how these different social uses constitute both opportunities and constraints. for actors. For this, it will be appealed to four different sociological perspectives: political sociology, sociology of public action, sociology of law and justice and sociology of mobilizations. This plurality of approaches will make it possible to have a plural and enriched views on what the social practices of human rights are. |
