Content
This seminar aims at deepening the 1st-year methodological knowledge and at applying it to 19th and 20th centuries European history. The seminar alternates between joint working sessions, during which the professor discusses aspects of the theme, and compulsory readings related to it, while at the same time, setting the framework of case studies analyzed by each participant in his or her individual work. The individual work presents an analysis of an aspect of the chosen theme, with particular emphasis on heuristic and critical aspects. It is the subject of an oral defense and a written report. Processing procedures and stages, as well as the overall synthesis and conclusions, are worked out together.
Implementation of the historical methodology through a documentary and critical study of questions relating to a specific theme (sources and printed works in English only). Although the content varies, depending on the point of application chosen for the collective research (19th and 20th centuries), the global history of the European space constitutes the field of investigation.
Evaluation methods
Assessment is continuous and based on compulsory attendance and participation in the seminar (15%), an oral presentation (15%) and a final paper (70%). All work is in English only.
The teacher is responsible for supervising and marking the work.
