The short course in Health Economics will provide students with an introduction to economic evaluation methods needed for decision-making in health care in developing countries. It will equip students with practical skills on the measurement of health outcomes (QALYs and DALYs) and the identification of costs to be used within cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analyses.
The objective is to understand the role and the methods of cost-effectiveness of health care treatment in health care decision.
The learning outcome is an understanding of the economic evaluation methods in the context of health care.
Teaching methods
The course include 6h lectures and 3h tutorials with practical examples and exercises.
Evaluation methods
Students will be assessed with a coursework including a one-page research protocol for an hypothetical economic evaluation of an innovative treatment comparatively to standard care (100%)
