Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

  • identify different methods of human resources management and the underlying rationale;
  • recognize personnel management techniques and methods that support the leadership and development of individuals and teams within the organization;
  • propose the appropriate people management policy and practices for a given company strategy;
  • critically analyze of personnel management situations.
 
Content
The course is structured around the following parts:
  1. The evolution of the HR function: the course provides a historical overview of the concepts and approaches to the human being and the human resources management function that have coexisted within the main managerial trends and models of work organization;
  2. Contemporary developments in work, organizations, and people management, along with the proposal of Human Management with its 3R model (reflexivity, recognition, real work);
  3. The field of organizational behavior: theories of motivation and recognition, organizational culture, and group dynamics;
  4. The evolution of organizations (new forms of work organization) and the relationship between individuals and organizations, as well as between individuals themselves;
  5. HR management practices and policies (e.g., recruitment and selection, performance evaluation, career and talent management…).
Finally, a practical group assignment leads students to study a specific HR policy developed within an organization.
Teaching methods
The course is based on a combination of plenary sessions, readings (scientific articles), and the sharing of practitioners' experiences.
The practical work combines readings, support sessions (including methodological guidance), empirical investigation (case study through semi-structured interviews), and an oral presentation.
Evaluation methods
-written personal exam (60%)
-group case study and its oral presentation (40%)
