Sport and society

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

• Identify and explain how to apply concepts and theories from the humanities and social sciences to issues such as gender, ethnicity, social classes, identities, media, doping, violence, money in the context of sport . (1.1.; 1.7; 7.3.; 7.4.; 9.1.; 9.2.; 9.3.).
• Explain why sport has its place in the sustainable development goals and how sport can contribute to sustainable development (1.1.; 1.7; 7.3; 7.4.; 9.1.; 9.2.; 9.3.).
• Explain the forms, causes and consequences of the influence of sport on the environment and the influence of the environment on sport (1.1.; 1.7; 7.3; 7.4.; 9.1.; 9.2.; 9.3. ).
• Explain the forms, causes and consequences of inequalities and discrimination in sport (social, gender, sexual, religious or philosophical, cultural, ethnic) and how it can contribute to reducing them (1.1.; 1.7; 7.3; 7.4. ; 9.1.; 9.2.; 9.3.).
• Explain the forms, causes and consequences of deviations in sport as well as the means to reduce them (1.1.; 1.7; 7.3; 7.4.; 9.1.; 9.2.; 9.3.).
• Explain the intersectionality of social, cultural and political issues that influence sport (1.1.; 1.7; 7.3; 7.4.; 9.1.; 9.2.; 9.3.).
• Design, write, and present a project aimed at responding to one of the societal issues facing sport (1.1.; 1.3.; 1.7.; 2.1.; 2.2.; 2.5.; 4.1; 4.2.; 4.3.; 4.4. ; 4.6.; 5.1.; 6.1.: 6.2.; 6.3.; 7.2.; 7.3.; 7.4.; 9.1.; 9.2. 9.3.)
