At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to : | |
| Human rights are not just an abstract ideal, nor just legal norms. Human rights are also a definite social form, unique to each period of time. The objective of this course is to study this social form, that is to say the way in which human rights, in their multiple dimensions, objectify themselves in social practices. It will therefore be a question of analyzing how human rights are embodied in discourses, demands, militant activities, instruments of public action, but also how these different social uses constitute both opportunities and constraints. for actors. For this, it will be appealed to four different sociological perspectives: political sociology, sociology of public action, sociology of law and justice and sociology of mobilizations. This plurality of approaches will make it possible to have a plural and enriched views on what the social practices of human rights are. |

Students are strongly advised to attend all sessions of the course.
Sessions are divided into two parts: a "lecture" part, which provides students with knowledge of the different parts of the course; an interactive part, built around the discussion of texts related to the session's theme.
Student participation is encouraged throughout the sessions.

Evaluation methods
The evaluation of the students is based on the submission of a final written paper (cross-thematic synthesis, critical reading).
