Content
The aim of this course is to introduce students to the political system of the European Union and how it functions through an analysis of its institutions, actors, modes of government and public policies. The political effects of European integration on national policies and on the citizens of the Member States are also examined.
This course is part of the teaching programme linked to the Jean Monnet EUGENDERING Chair on the EU and the challenges of gender equality and diversity. Gender issues will therefore be a common thread running through the sessions, explored through case studies and/or readings.
Teaching methods
The course comprises two main phases.
The first phase takes place face-to-face during the first seminar of the year. It consists of two lecture sessions.
The second phase takes place remotely over a period of four weeks. It combines synchronous and asynchronous activities, as well as individual and collaborative activities.
All the necessary resources (commented powerpoint presentations, descriptions of exercises and methodological advice, portfolio of readings, links to multimedia resources, etc.) are available on the course Moodle page.

Submitted work will be systematically analysed by anti-plagiarism software.
All use of generative artificial intelligence is forbidden in the production and writing of the work required as part of this course, with the exception of spelling and grammatical correction, although this use must be systematically indicated and referenced precisely throughout the text. Any part of the work relying, in any way whatsoever, on generative AI must be clearly identified (for example, by a footnote). Screenshots of the conversation with the AI tool must be appended, together with a paragraph of explanation specifying which generative AI tool was used, for what purpose, in what way, and to what extent. Failure to do so will constitute an irregularity.
