At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to : | |
Translation C to A At the end of this part of the course, the student will be able to : - use translation procedures effectively to solve certain difficulties specific to LSFB-French translation (translation of idiomatic structures, transfers, etc.) as well as to produce a translation written in a usual and fluent style in French, - to convey the message of the original while respecting the author's intentions and the style and register of the original - evaluate the relevance of the possible translation solutions by choosing the most appropriate one with the necessary distance, - translate an original pragmatic text on social issues into quality French; to do this, he/she will know how to carry out effective documentary and terminological research, use word processing tools and apply the typographical rules in force. Sight translation At the end of the Sight Translation part of the course, students will be able to work on understanding the meaning beyond the words and render the meaning of the message in the target language in a fluent manner. |

Content
C to A translation
LSFB-French translation exercises focusing in particular on the use of translation processes to produce a faithful translation written in idiomatic French.
LSFB translation workshop into French of original pragmatic (non-specialized) texts on social and general policy or philosophical themes.
Emphasis is also placed on the fidelity of the translation to the original and the quality of French as well as compliance with typographical standards. Students also learn to carry out effective research in dedicated tools (dictionaries, encyclopedias, Internet) in order to resolve thematic (documentary search) and terminological problems presented by the text.
FR to LSFB translation (15h)
Practical FR to LSFB translation exercises
Goals :
choose, among the translation processes seen and practiced during the course, the one which will allow him to transmit, in LSFB, the message while respecting the intentions of the author;
independently carry out translation work into the LSFB on subjects with which they are familiar;
correctly reproduce in LSFB a translation seen during the course, respecting the criteria for filming and video editing;
identify the lexical and syntactic difficulties specific to the source text (FR) and reformulate them in LSFB without tracing;
demonstrate critical thinking to compare and justify your translation choices
Collective correction of exercises in class.
