Content
This course presents the essential milestones in the history of French literature since 1800, combining panoramic sequences offering an overview of the literary field and its evolution, with sequences focusing on the study of specific works. Using these two scales of analysis - synthesis on the one hand, close reading on the other - will enable us to grasp in detail the singularity of two particularly rich centuries of creation.
Beyond the simple acquisition of knowledge, the course aims to critically question the way in which literary history has been written, through the study of the categories and periodizations on which it is based, as well as the grey areas and presuppositions that underlie it.
Evaluation methods
Oral exam.
Bibliography
Le programme de lecture et une bibliographie sélective seront communiqués aux étudiants au début du quadrimestre.
The reading program and a selective bibliography will be sent to students at the beginning of the term.
