Prerequisites
To have passed the LALLE1800 or LALLE1100 course (or equivalent to level A2).
Main themes
Essentially those of everyday life (student’s life, clothing, parties and traditions, accommodation, ...).
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 Reading comprehension: A2+ level
  • find specific, predictable information in simple everyday material (such as prospectuses, e-mails, …)
  • understand short simple personal letters.
 
2 Listening comprehension: A2+ level
  • understand discussions on the expression of a impression, a feeling, a taste, an agreement or disagreement in simple terms.
  • follow clear and precise instructions
 
3 Speaking skills: A2+ level
  • place events on the timeline and talk about past facts;
  • handle very short exchanges even though not being able to keep a real conversation going
 
4 Writing skills: A1+ level
  • fill in a form
  • write a simple and short personal text on himself or on his direct environment
 
N.B. The indicated levels refer to the Common European Framework for Languages.
 
Teaching methods
The course is based on different themes.  Learning is contextualised by didactic and/or authentic documents (reading and listening comprehension).  Vocabulary and basic structures are trained, consolidated and extended through written and oral exercises (drills, roleplays, interviews, conversations in small groups,...). 
In speaking skills, the focus is on communication rather than on correction, however phonetical correction will be stressed. An interactive and cultural approach is favoured.
Evaluation methods
Different marks are taken into account in the final assessment (see courses notes):
  1. continuous assessment
  2. written and oral exams (December/January)

This course is the first part (partim A) of the main course LALLE1300 and ends in December.
