Prerequisites
To have passed the LALLE1300 A course (or equivalent to level A2+).
Main themes
Essentially those of everyday life (student’s life, health, travel, money, ...).
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 Reading comprehension: B1 Level
  • understand texts that consist mainly of high frequency everyday or job-related language.
  • understand the description of events, feelings and wishes in personal letters.
 
2 Listening comprehension: B1 Level
  • understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, college, leisure, etc.
  • understand the main point of many radio or TV programmes on current affairs or topics of personal interest when the delivery is relatively slow and clear
 
3 Speaking skills: B1 Level
  • enter unprepared into conversation on topics that are familiar, of personal interest or pertinent to everyday life (e.g. family, hobbies, work, travel und current events).
  • connect phrases in a simple way in order to describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions.
  • briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
  • narrate a story or relate the plot of a book or film.
 
4 Writing skills: A2 Level
  • write short, simple notes and messages relating to matters in areas of immediate need.
 
N.B. The indicated levels refer to the Common European Framework for Languages.
 
Teaching methods
The course is based on different themes.  Learning is contextualised by didactic and/or authentic documents (reading and listening comprehension).  Vocabulary and basic structures are trained, consolidated and extended through written and oral exercises (drills, roleplays, interviews, conversations in small groups,...). 
In speaking skills, the focus is on communication rather than on correction, however phonetical correction will be stressed. An interactive and cultural approach is favoured.
Evaluation methods
Different marks are taken into account in the final assessment (see course notes):
  1. continuous assessment
  2. written and oral exams (May/June)

Other information
This partim B being the second part of the main course LALLE1300, the student will have to learn the material from partim A on his own, in order to be able to take the exam that will cover the whole material of the course.
