- The analyse of the conditions under which a French-language literature emerged and flourished in Belgium, at a time when the model of national literatures was taking hold; the problem of the specificity of this literature; the history of the relationships between literature, language and nation; the model of the “Francophonies”.
- The study of the works of the most famous writers and the aesthetic trends to which they belong.
- The study of the links between this literary production and the political, linguistic and institutional history of the country.

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to : | |
1 | Produce a critical and historical analysis of the model of national literatures, and situate the exemplary case of French-language literature in Belgium within this model |
2 | Analyse the major works and trends in French-language literature in Belgium |
3 | Situate this literary production in relation to the country's political, linguistic and institutional history |
