Main themes
Reading and commentary of a selection of representative works of classical Greek literature, according to a given theme.
The reading will be accompanied by grammatical explanations according to the needs of the students and the characteristics of the texts read.

Learning outcomes
At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to : | |
1 | translate into literary French representative texts of classical Greek literature; |
2 | analyze these texts grammatically; |
3 | produce a structured and argued commentary on one or more works of Greek literature, including literary, historicaland stylistic considerations. |
Content
The authors chosen for the course are Euripides (The Trojan Women and Andromache) and Aristophanes (Lysistrata). After an introduction situating the author and his work, the translation is clarified grammatically and accompanied by a commentary.
Teaching methods
The translations prepared by the student will be corrected and commented during the course. If necessary specific grammar points will be revised.
Evaluation methods
Oral exam on :
- Translation of extracts seen in class (30%)
- Grammatical analysis (30%)
- Discussion of a written personal commentary, due on the first day of the session (40%)
