Prerequisites
It is advisable that the student possesses an elementary knowledge of Egyptian Language.
Main themes
In-depth study of the civilization of Pharaonic Egypt, thanks to the examination of questions relating to its history, approached from textual, archaeological and iconographic sources.
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 become familiar with a rigorous scientific approach carried out from the sources;
 
2 critically approach the writings relating to the history of Pharaonic Egypt.
 
Content
1. questions of royal succession;
2. Egypt's relations with the Hittites in the 19th Dynasty (notably the Qadesh battle of Ramesses II);
3. relations between Egypt and Nubia, from the beginnings to the Meroitic kingdom;
4. expeditions to Punt and Sinai, from the Old Kingdom.
Teaching methods
The course is delivered by means of extensively illustrated ppt, including maps, texts and images.
Evaluation methods
Oral exam, on the basis of written preparation.

The Moodle server provides the ppts of the course.
