Content
This course introduces students to the intellectual process of synthesis specific to cultural mediation in history, to its technical requirements and to the methods of written, oral, audio-visual and digital communication of scientific historical knowledge.
Content: Introduction to communicative writing, audiovisual writing, oral presentation of museum objects, creation of websites, video production, promotion of heritage sites and guided tours.
Teaching methods
The course alternates between theoretical references and practical exercises on public history issues and the communication of history. Exercises are thus proposed on the writing and layout of communication articles, the design, and implementation of websites, the design and implementation of exhibition modules, the writing and recording of videos, the design and implementation of guided tours of a heritage site, etc.
Generative artificial intelligence (AI) must be used responsibly following the practices of academic and scientific integrity. As scientific integrity requires that sources be cited, the use of AI must always be reported. The use of artificial intelligence for tasks explicitly forbidden will be considered cheating. In this case, they are forbidden to write the communication article (which calls on your creativity) and for scripting the video (which uses collective intelligence as a group task). Nor are they recommended for oral presentation exercises.
Evaluation methods
Ongoing evaluation based on work carried out individually or in groups.
Participation to the course and completion of all assignments are compulsory to obtain the 10 ECTS of the course.
In case of failure, the student will take back the deficient work(s) in order to improve it/them.
Other information
Participation of professional historians working in the domain of public history.
