Prerequisites
This teaching unit being of intermediate level, a satisfactory productive command of basic grammar and vocabulary as well as the command of the language skills as described in the teaching unit of elementary level (LNEER1820, Level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages), are required.

This teaching unit is based on written and spoken texts concerned with contemporary and field-related subjects.

Content
This teaching unit involves
- the revision and extension of general vocabulary as well as specific (field-related) vocabulary,
- the revision of specific Dutch structures. The understanding and productive use of these structures will be consolidated by means of oral and written exercices,
- the training and development of reading and listening skills, and also, to a certain extent, the productive skills (speaking en writing)
Teaching methods
- Lessons in groups of 20 to 30 students.
- Revision and extension of basis vocabulary, general and specitif do the study field. (book 'Introduction au vocabulaire juridique' - De Boeck Supérieur - I. Demeulenaere e.al.)
- Revision of specific Dutch structures. They are presented in context; exercised and consolidated by means of oral and written exercises.
- Training and development of reading and listening skills followed by productive writing and speaking exercises.
Evaluation methods
Various moments of evaluation will be organised during this teaching unit:
- one mid-quadrimester test in the 1st term, in class, which will count for 2 points;
- one exam at the end of the 1st term, in a auditorium, which will count for 5 points;
- one mid-quadrimester test in the 2nd term, in class, which will count for 3 points;
- one exam at the end of the 2nd term, in a auditorium, which will count for 10 points;
The mark received by the student at the end of the 1st term, will reflect the mark for the 1st mid-quadrimester test and the examen at the end of the 1st term. If this mark is inferior to 10/20, the student will have to take this part of the examn again at the following exam session, in May/June.
In case of absence at the mid-quadrimester test, the student will get 0 for the test, unless he/she can justify his/her absence by means of a medical certificate (or other valid reason). In that case, the test will not be taken into account, and the exam at the end of the term will be wieghed accordingly.
EXAM SESSION AUGUST/SEPTEMBER
At the exam session in August/September, one unique exam will be organised on the course material covering the whole academic year (1st and 2nd term). This exam will count for 100% of the final mark (20 points). The mid-quadrimester tests will no longer be taken into consideration. A student who got 10 or more as a partial mark in january, but whose final mark in june is lower than 10, will have to take this final exam on the course material covering the whole academic year.
