Prerequisites
A knowledge of Spanish on a B2+ level is required. The students will be informed of a possible insufficiency of their linguistic abilities.
Main themes
This course deals with a historical overview of methodologies for teaching Spanish as foreign language, and with a thorough reflection on teaching practices of the Spanish language. The analysis of E/LE textbooks will address issues such as the definition of the level (see the Common European Framework of Reference), the definition of standard Spanish, the structure of the teaching unit, the variety of exercises and finally the issue of evaluation.

Content
The course is divided into:
- theoretical sessions during which we propose a reflection on the major trends in the history of the teaching ELE, the common frame of reference, and the available textbooks;
- exercise sessions, during which students work on the structure and content of a teaching unit ;
- support sessions concerning their oral expression and interaction skills in the classroom;
-sessions to consolidate the language proficiency.

Teaching methods
Students are expected to develop didactical tools from a corpus of theoretical readings commented during the course, and througn individual and collective practical exercises. Moreover, an intervision session concerning the teaching practice will be organized within the framework of this course.
Evaluation methods
This class has a continuous evaluation as follows:
- 30%: practical teaching exercise. Following article 72 of the Règlement général des études et examens, the teacher responsible for this course can propose to the jury to oppose to the inscription to the June and September session of students who have not attended at least 6 of the 8 practice sessions on interactions in clas and microteaching.- 30%: language test C1 level. Students who have obtained the C1 level for "audio comprehension" and "oral expression and interaction" at a SIELE exam during the last 5 years can be dispensed of this part. In that case, the student receives the equivalent of a 20/20 grade for this part of the evaluation. Failing the language test implies a fail grade (maximum 8/20) for the entire course.
- 40%: written paper concerning the practice of teaching.
Not presenting one of the three parts of the evaluation implies that the student obtains 0 for the totality of this class.
For the August session, only the parts for which the student did not obtain a pass grade, will have to be presented again.
The evaluation is entirely in Spanish.
If the student uses generative artificial intelligence tools, this has to be done in a responsible way and in compliance with good practice standards of academic and scientific integrity. Since the scientific integrity implies that one cites one's sources, the use of AI always has to be mentioned. The use of AI for tasks where this has been explicitly forbidden will be considered a case of fraud.
