Main themes
The course is centered around different topics (e.g. shopping, telephoning, world of work).
  • Code: Ability to master basic vocabulary (2000 words) and the basic structures of the Russian language. Consolidation and extension of vocabulary. Special attention will be paid to pronunciation.
  • Culture: At all previously mentioned levels: increasing awareness of the culture of Russian-speaking countries.
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 Reading comprehension:
  • texts written in a simple everyday language and related to the students' world, description of events, feelings and wishes,
  • articles and reports about contemporary problems in which the writer adopts particular points of view

2 Listening comprehension - individually:
  • conferences and long speeches about familiar topics,
  • most broadcasted news and information on TV;
Listening comprehension - interactively:
  • conversation with a native speaker about a general topic

3 Speaking skills - individually:
  • clear, detailed descriptions on a wide range of subjects related to his/her field of interest;
  • viewpoint on a current affairs topic;
Speaking skills - interactively:
  • fluent conversation in familiar contexts;
  • presenting and defending his/her arguments

4 Writing skills:
  • short, simple notes and messages, simple personal letters

Content
Objectives:
  • level B2 of the CEFRL for oral expression, listening and reading comprehension
  • level A2 of the CEFRL for written expression.
Methods and content:
  • extension and consolidation of vocabulary and grammar structures
  • listening and reading exercises
  • oral exercises (individual and interactive)
  • written exercises
  • texts and activities on general topics.
Teaching methods
Learning with teaching or authentic material (listening and reading comprehension).
Consolidation and extension of basic vocabulary and the basic structures of the Russian language by means of written or oral exercises (drills, role-plays, interviews, discussion in small groups of 2 up to 4).
 
Evaluation methods
  1. Continuous assessment: autoevaluative tests, written and oral tests.
  2. Final assessment: consists of continuous assessment and written and oral examination.
