In-depth study of Biblical Massoretic Hebrew (poetry). The course covers the reading of biblical poetic texts, with particular attention to:
(a) textual criticism ;
(b) linguistic study in relation ato other Semitic languages;
(c) the main modes of expression in Hebrew poetry;
(d) the historical situation of the text and its place in the evolution of biblical thought.
Evaluation methods
The evaluation has two components:
  1. Participation in the course through homework preparation (30%).
  2. Written exam in January: translation of a text studied in class (no working tools allowed), then of an unknown text (working tools allowed: dictionary, grammar), with some analysis of verb forms to be provided. (70% of final mark).
At Q3, the evaluation consists only on a written exam, with the same modalities as just indicated.
The use of Bible software, websites and artificial intelligence is forbidden for homework, classwork and exams.
