- Societal focus: IR and climate change; IR and North/South relations; IR and decolonisation
Teaching methods
Lectures in a large room, exclusively in person. Continuous assessment makes attendance essential. More than two unjustified absences will result in referral to the second session.
As the audience is mixed (daytime and HD), sessions will be recorded for HD students who are absent for professional reasons.
Additional readings (1 or 2 chapters of a book and/or article) may also be required to illustrate or further explore one or more points of the subject matter.

Evaluation methods
Type of assessment: continuous participatory and interactive assessment. At the end of the term, a one-day simulation of an international meeting (e.g. UN General Assembly session) will be organised. Working in pairs, students will play the role of representatives of a state, an international organisation or a civil society organisation, and will be required to interact in accordance with the role they play and the interests they defend, while respecting the formalities of such a meeting. This role-play will be prepared during the semester through the submission of interim assignments: a description of the role played; a policy paper/position paper; when applicable, a reading note on an article or chapter of a book and/or a conference report. The submission of this interim work will be supervised by the teaching assistants for this course.
Language of assessment: French
Assessment criteria: interim work: 50% of marks; end-of-term simulation: 50% of marks. An assessment grid will be sent to students at the beginning of the term to outline the points to be taken into account in terms of content and form. More than two unjustified absences, or absence from the end-of-year simulation, will result in referral to the second session.
Further details: for HD students only, this course includes a pilot assessment method integrated with the English course: the preparation and presentation in English of the descriptive sheet and position paper required for the assessment of this course may, among other methods, be used as a means of obtaining bonus points for the English assessment. Details will be provided by the English teachers.
