At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

Refresher course in basic Dutch to reach level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: http://www.coe.int/t/dg4/linguistic/Source/Framework_fr.pdf. pp. 25-28.
The course examines the elements necessary to be able to understand a basic level text, follow a basic conversation and respond and react in Dutch.
The courses will :
- develop receptive skills through the use of current articles on topics of everyday life and topics related to the chosen options;
- develop productive skills by building on basic knowledge (grammar and basic vocabulary);
- to contextualise and use the vocabulary and grammar studied
 
Content
This course is a refresher course in basic Dutch, focusing on acquiring vocabulary related to studies in philosophy and literature, and more specifically vocabulary related to Flemish culture and history.
The courses examine the elements necessary to understand a basic text related to a historical and/or cultural subject, follow a basic conversation, and respond and react in Dutch.
The courses will enable students to:
- develop receptive skills, particularly through the study of texts;
- develop productive skills based on basic knowledge (basic grammar and vocabulary);
- contextualize and use the vocabulary and grammar studied.
Teaching methods
The course runs throughout the academic year. There are 1.5 hours of Dutch per week.
The classes focus on reading, speaking, and writing activities centered on historical and/or cultural topics.
Evaluation methods
The written exam covers all the material covered in the course, for which the syllabus is only a guide.
The Q1 written exam accounts for 40% of the final grade.
If students do not obtain an average of 10/20 in June, they must retake both semesters in August.

A syllabus is available at the copy center. It is mandatory to bring it to class each week.
