At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

The student will be able to:
  • Comprehend the main literary movements of Spanish America, identifying their defining features and their connections to the historical, social, and political contexts.
  • Develop structured, coherent, and in-depth analyses of the given texts, demonstrating critical engagement with them and their contexts.
  • Examine the cultural and historical identities reflected in Spanish American literature, exploring themes such as ‘mestizaje’, the dynamics of rural and urban spaces, dictatorial regimes, and the interplay between tradition and modernity.
 
Content
The course provides an overview of the main literary and cultural trends in Hispanic America, from 17th-century Baroque literature to the 20th century, through a selection of representative texts and some key authors
Evaluation methods
Final Written Exam 70%; homework 30%.
Unless otherwise stated, the use of generative AI is of course forbidden for any activity subject to evaluation.
