Content
The course aims at enabling the student to function in the relevant social and professional contexts (law enforcement, the judicial world, the execution of criminal sentences, the field of prevention policies and psycho-social interventions). The student will practise the language in an interactive way through classroom professional-type activities and will therefore be exposed to a variety of real-life situations requiring specific language functions. Regular feedback on the student's oral production will help him consolidate and improve his grammar use, vocabulary accuracy as well as pronunciation.
At the end of the term, the student should have acquired oral skills roughly corresponding to the level B1 of « the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages ».

Teaching methods
The LANGL 2423 course includes 30 hours of on-site classroom activities as well as self-tuition on Moodle.

Evaluation methods
Attendance at this language course is required. In accordance with article 72 of the General Regulations for Studies and Examinations, the teacher may propose to the jury that a student who has two unjustified absences for the course be refused registration for the January, June or September session.
To obtain a final mark, students must attend the course as defined above, complete all tests during the term and take the oral examination.
January/June exam (100%)
Regular students who obtained an insufficient grade in the first assessment period will only take the oral exam. The continuous assessment grade (50%) is taken into account if it is to the students' advantage.
Students who did not take all the tests in the first assessment period will take the missing tests as well as the oral exam. The final grade will be calculated on a 100% basis, distributed as follows: 50% for continuous assessment and 50% for the oral exam.

- Oral exam (50%): An individual formal presentation of a criminology-oriented topic based on a portfolio of scientific articles
