The course addresses notions of sustainable development and the meaning of related terminology considering contemporary challenges to maintaining humanity’s living conditions. It highlights the cross-disciplinary nature of sustainability and the responses required, aiming to decompartmentalize knowledge and actions. The course critically examines sustainability in architecture, assessing its ability to respond effectively to these challenges. Finally, it explores ways to move from concepts to implementation in architectural projects, focusing on conceptual approaches, design and assessment methods, and practical guides.
