Main themes
This course provides a comprehensive overview of the primary materials and components used to give formal expression to an architectural project, resulting in a functional and high-quality building. By analyzing and using representation codes for fundamental elements and key materials, the course establishes the principles underlying commonly accepted construction methods. Additionally, by emphasizing environmentally friendly solutions, the course introduces the objective of sustainable construction.
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

  • Utilize technical terminology and apply graphic conventions related to construction techniques,
  • Formulate and interpret the physical and constructive properties of building materials and components,
  • Describe and evaluate different construction systems and installation procedures based on the physical properties of building materials and components,
  • Create technical details for horizontal and vertical envelopes, addressing construction, insulation, and waterproofing requirements,
  • Assess the environmental impact of materials and construction methods that promote sustainability.
