Main themes
This course explores the theories and methods involved in urban, territorial, and landscape projects and processes. It contextualizes these in relation to the challenges of the socio-ecological transition and examines: the dynamics between urbanization, urbanism, and natural and landscape resources; theoretical concepts from urban and territorial ecologies, as well as landscape ecology; fair planning practices and mechanisms for adaptation and resilience in response to the ecological crisis; the materialization of territorial transformation processes and their practical implementation. The course also provides a critical understanding of contemporary tools for urbanism and territorial project.
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

  • Recognize and understand the models and theories that shape contemporary perceptions of urbanized areas in the broadest sense,
  • Analyze a complex territorial situation by: identifying its structuring elements (both built and unbuilt); recognizing urban, landscape, and environmental infrastructures across multiple scales; linking them to underlying theoretical models; formulating hypotheses about the environmental, technical, economic, and political interactions that have shaped it,
  • Develop a critical perspective on contemporary urban and territorial transformation processes, focusing on the challenges and opportunities within these territorial ecologies, particularly concerning sustainable development and transition.
