  • The impact and legacy of a sports event,
  • Fan/participant experiences,
  • Sustainable event management
  • The geopolitical issues involved in awarding sports events
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

  • Define the different types of sports event and infrastructure, the audience and its expectations (mass sport vs. elite sport, one-off or recurrent event, experience), and the forms of funding (1.1., 1.2., 1.5., 4.1., 4.3)
  • Describe and analyse the stages of planning, preparation, implementation and evaluation (including legacy) of a sports event (1.1., 1.2 .., 1.5., 4.1., 4.3., 4.4., 6.1., 6.2., 6.3., 6.4 .., 7.2)
  • Explain the importance of volunteers, key positions and collaboration in the organisation of sports events (1.1., 1.2 ., 1.5., 4.1.,4.3)
  • Define the different types of sports infrastructure (1.1., 1.2 ., 1.5., 4.1., 4.3.),
  • Describe and analyse the strategic management process of a sports facility (1.1., 1.2 .., 1. 4 ., 1.5., 4 .1., 4.3., 4.4., 6.1., 6.2., 6.3., 6.4.)
