The course focuses on climate and its changes:
- The radiative balance
- The causes and variations of climate
- The traces and lessons of the past
- Recent climate change, its sources
- Multiple and spatially heterogeneous effects
- Mitigating and adapting to climate change
Teaching methods
The course is organised in the form of lectures, with participation through Moodle discussion forums, which are supported by scientific articles.
Evaluation methods
The intended learning outcomes are:
Special conditions apply to the August session: if fewer than ten students are enrolled, the examination will be organised as an oral with written preparation.
- Understand the fundamental characteristics of the physics of the climate system
- Understand the causes and effects of climate change
- Put contemporary scientific debates in the field into perspective
- Be able to develop a scientific argument based on the content of the theoretical course
