Co-requisites: in order to follow this course, students must also be enrolled in UE LEISS2902 : Initiation to research in education (S4) and UE LGLOR2910: Séminaire d’accompagnement du mémoire.
Main themes
Under the terms of Decree 2021, art. 24, §3, ‘the final year's work is based on at least two of the areas of training defined in the previous paragraph, including training in and through research in education and didactics’. Paragraph 4 specifies that the final project must be ‘linked to a process of action research or collaborative research’.

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

With reference to the programme's learning outcomes (AA), this unit contributes to the development and acquisition of the following learning outcomes:  
AA3. The competences of the learning organizer and coach in an evolving dynamic  
AA.3.1. Mastery of subject content, its epistemological foundations, its scientific and technological development, its didactics and teaching methodology;  
AA.3.2. Mastery of knowledge relating to learning processes and research into the various models and theories of teaching;  
AA.3.3. Have a thorough command of written and spoken French in order to teach and communicate adequately in the various contexts and disciplines related to the profession.  
AA4. Reflective practitioner competences  
AA.4.1. Read critically the results of scientific research in education and didactics and draw on them for their teaching activities, as well as drawing on various disciplines in the social sciences and humanities to analyse and act in professional situations;  
AA.4.2. Carry out, individually and with peers, a critical and rigorous observation and analysis of their own practices and their impact on pupils in order to regulate their teaching and develop the strategies and conditions of implementation with a view to effectiveness and equity. 
At the end of this course, students will be able to: 
  • produce an original scientific work integrating various aspects of their training;  
  • draw on scientific literature to formulate and address a research question;  
  • relate scientific literature to professional situations and practices;   
  • rigorously apply one or more research methods (interviews, questionnaire survey, didactic test, experimental situation, observation, literature review, etc.) depending on the type of dissertation chosen;  
  • Writing the dissertation in the target language is required in order to: - discuss the ethical issues involved in the subject and the research approach.
