At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 Define the various institutions of Ancien Régime and their remit
 
2 Describe the interlocking between multiple powers
 
3 Comment on the sources coming from those institutions
 
Content
The course aims at untangling the complexities of Ancien Régime institutions. It will determine the respective scopes of monarchy, the Church, representative assemblies, municipal authorities, the Army, and so on. It will also deal with their interactions and with the specific sources they produced.

Lectures, commentaries. 
Evaluation methods
Written exam (commentary on a source).
