Main themes
Themes and case studies in contemporary cultural history are analyzed on the basis of a portfolio of readings, situating them in historiographical trends, including the most recent, and paying particular attention to the issues, concepts and methods employed. 
The themes considered are regularly renewed (history of heroisation, history of memory and commemoration, history of identity processes in the 19th and 20th centuries, etc.). 
Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 master a range of knowledge on the subject studied, being able to situate it within the major trends in research;
 
2 use relevant conceptual and methodological tools in cultural history;
 
3 take a critical, reflexive look at research in progress;
 
4 use their expertise as historians to shed light on current issues (AA 1, 3, 7, 8). 
 
Content
Each year, the theme and suggested readings are posted on Moodle. 
Teaching methods
The course, given in French and/or English, is based on a portfolio of readings from which the student is invited to actively participate in the course, which is built on dialogue, via critical presentations of articles or book chapters related to the theme addressed.
