This course provides a comprehensive understanding of the key management issues in the humanitarian sector. It focuses on analyzing the humanitarian system, its actors, and its tools. The course also aims to train students to reflect on the ethical issues and dilemmas faced by humanitarian actors. Finally, it includes a strong practical component, emphasizing students’ ability to design a humanitarian project and prepare a funding proposal.

Teaching methods
The teaching combines lectures, presentations by external professionals from the sector, and a training workshop on the ECHO Single Form for the design and funding of humanitarian projects.
Evaluation methods
Course assessment consists of:
- A mid-year presentation (20%)
- Attendance at the Punto Sud training (10%)
- Attendance at the course sessions (10%)
- A final exam in the form of a group project: the design of a humanitarian project and preparation of a funding proposal, accompanied by an analysis of the related ethical issues. The submission of the written work is complemented by a final presentation before a panel of academics and professionals (60%).
Other information
Several external speakers are invited to share their expertise and experience. This may take place online or involve a class trip to Brussels.
