This teaching unit consists mainly of a teaching internship in upper secondary mathematics classes. This teaching internship experience is supplemented by observation hours in mathematics classes and a seminar to support the internships, the aim of which is both to equip students for their internships and to help them take a step back and reflect on their practice.
The subject matter that students will be required to teach during their internships depends on the classes and the requests of the internship supervisors.

Teaching methods
The teaching internship consists of the student teaching 40 hours of mathematics classes under the supervision of internship supervisors in upper secondary school classes, both general and vocational. In practice, these internships take place in two (sometimes three) different schools, so that students can discover different internship supervisors, establishments, and types of teaching.
In order to get to know their future students, supervising teachers, and schools, and to open themselves up to different educational realities, students will complete an observation internship of at least 10 hours of mathematics classes in upper secondary education, both general and vocational, prior to their teaching internship.
The internship support seminar takes place alternately with the internship periods and focuses on sharing teaching experiences and working on different tools for developing teaching materials.
Access to teaching internships is conditional on passing a test of mastery of the mathematical concepts to be taught in upper secondary school (grades 10, 11, and 12, including “mathematics for scientists”). Out of respect for the students and teachers who welcome trainees into their classrooms, it is essential that trainees have a thorough understanding of upper secondary mathematics concepts.
To develop their thinking about their own teaching practice, students will be required to create a teaching practicum portfolio.

Evaluation methods
Internships and seminars will be evaluated by the teaching team. Students will be evaluated as follows:
Attendance at seminars is compulsory. Under Article 72 of the general regulations for studies and examinations, course instructors may propose to the jury that a student who has not attended at least 80% of the seminars during the June or September session be refused registration.
In the case of use of generative AI, students are required to systematically and explicitly indicate all parts that have been subject to AI use, specifying whether AI was used to search for information, to write the text, or to correct it. In addition, sources of information must be systematically cited in accordance with bibliographic referencing standards. Students remain responsible for the content of their work, regardless of the sources used.
Internships cannot be retaken in the second session, as they take place in secondary schools. However, reflective work can be retaken in the second session.

Students enrolled in LMAT2350T will attend some of the seminars scheduled for LMAT2350. The sessions they are expected to attend will be specified during the course.
