This course will explore the history of the philosophy of music through the texts of philosophers, writers, theorists and musicians. The major concepts of aesthetics (ontology, time and space, language, reason-emotion, mimesis, etc.) will be defined in the course of the lecture and then taken up again in a synthesis, so that the student can forge his or her own critical vocabulary
