Content
The seminar will address various themes each year, with the specific topics varying. Themes from previous years have included suicide ideation; psychologist's self-care; non violent communication; identity and life transitions. Beyond the themes suggested by the teachers, the students can suggest and work on personal themes (subject to the authorization of the professors).
These themes will be addressed in order to fit the learning objectives of the course across the semester so that the different dimensions of a the psychological care of adults are studied.

Teaching methods
During the first session, the learning objectives, methods and specific themes to work on will be presented. Themes will deal with difficulties in clinical psychology of adults that clinical psychologists regularly encounter in their practice, whatever the setting (e.g., private consultations, in the hospital, individually and in groups).
In subgroups, students choose a theme. They have min. 3 weeks to prepare the training of the other students. It will include :
(1) min. 1 tp 2 clinical illustrations/cases/vignettes provided from their probation period(s) or the literature (The clinical vignettes are chosen so as to sufficiently illustrate the complexity of real cases) ;
(2) activities that mobilize competences of (a) case analyses/interpretations; (b) intervention and its underlying reasoning based particularly on the scientific literature ; and (c) personal reflexivity. The sharing of reflexions during exchanges in the group should be sought.
The manuscript will include at least 10 references, at least 5 of which must be less than 10 years old and at least 5 of which must be in English. The manuscript will be posted on MoodleUCL to facilitate learning among the other students. It will also include a recommended bibliography section (further readings) to allow afin further reflections on the chosen theme.
The professors will supervise the group work.
Each activity of the seminar is subject to rules of ethics and deontology of the practice of the psychologist.
Depending on the epidemiological situation and the number of enrolled students, the seminar will take place in person or remotely.

Evaluation methods
June session
The evaluation of the teaching unit consists of three activities:
- Activity 1 (valid for 15% of the final grade): students are asked to give substantiated and constructive feedback on each of the presentations made in the seminar. Participating in peer review activities is required to obtain all three points. Above 2 unjustified absences out of 12 presentations, the student will obtain 0 points.
- Compulsory activity 2 (valid for 45% of the final grade): oral presentation and facilitation of the seminar and exchanges between its members: in sub-groups of students, each sub-group prepares and leads a seminar session on a specific clinical theme (see specific deadlines and content instructions on Moodle).
- Compulsory activity 3 (valid for 40% of the final grade): written group synthesis work, which takes into account intermediate feedback and debates (see specific deadline and content instructions on Moodle).
The final grade will only be issued if the student has completed activities 2 and 3 within the imposed deadlines (see Moodle). Otherwise, the final encoded grade will be "Absent".
The addition of the grades to the 3 activities constitutes the final grade of the UE in the June session. Mathematical rounding is carried out when the final grade is >= 10/20 (= the pass threshold, e.g. 10.5 = 11 but 10.49 = 10). Below 10/20, the final score is rounded down (e.g. 9.78 = 9/20)
September Session
The evaluation methods in the second session are different. They consist of two mandatory activities:
- Compulsory activity 1: a written assignment (valid for 50% of the final grade) on a theme imposed by the professors which will meet the same requirements as the synthesis work of the 1st session (see specific deadlines and content instructions on Moodle).
- Compulsory activity 2 : an oral exam (valid for 50% of the final grade) covering all the oral presentations and synthesis work presented by the different groups in the 1st session and the content of the individual written work.
The final grade will only be issued if the student has completed the two mandatory activities within the imposed deadlines (see Moodle). Otherwise, the final encoded grade will be "Absent".

For both sessions
Regardless of the work done or the session, the use of generative AI is prohibited for writing texts. It is tolerated for the search for information or for the correction of the text, but must be the subject of an explicit and systematic indication of all the parts that have been the subject of a use of AI and specifying the type of use that has been made of it. Sources of information must be systematically cited in accordance with bibliographic referencing standards.
