Learning outcomes

At the end of this learning unit, the student is able to :

1 To make students better aware of aspects of family, marital and sexual life and their complexities.

Content
The seminar will provide an overview of fundamental concepts in the domain of family and sexual studies. These concepts are drawn from various disciplines in the human and social sciences (psychology, history, law, sociology, anthropology, etc.), with elements from the life sciences (biology, medicine) also being included. The seminar will also serve as an introduction to scientific research methods. Participants are encouraged to identify relevant scientific publications, produce literature summaries and communicate, orally and in writing, the results of their bibliographical research.
Teaching methods
In accordance with the seminar format, the sessions are designed to be interactive, fostering an environment conducive to engagement and participation by all attendees. It is recommended and encouraged that students should actively participate. It is imperative that students be present for the examination; failure to comply with this requirement may result in refusal to register, as outlined in articles 71, 72 and 73 of the RGEE.
The seminar is valued at 10 ECTS. The investment required for this programme is approximately 250 to 300 hours of individual and group work throughout the semester. Consequently, the time spent working outside of the classroom far exceeds the time spent during classroom sessions.
The precise schedule of the sessions will be communicated during the inaugural lesson and made available on Moodle at the commencement of the semester.
The feasibility of conducting sessions online is contingent upon the prevailing public health recommendations and the capacity of the classroom.
Evaluation methods
The assessment is to be conducted on a continuous basis, with the evaluation process being informed by both written reports and oral presentations on the literature covered.
The final paper constitutes an original production, composed by the student. It is imperative that this composition is grounded in meticulously referenced scientific publications, as generative artificial intelligence tools do not constitute scientific sources.
The delivery of students' oral presentations may be subject to modification in accordance with the implementation of health policies.
Other information
Lessons material: co-constructed bibliographies, slide shows, and multimedia resources on Moodle.
As English is one of the most widely used languages in scientific production, it is expected that a proportion of the bibliographical resources used by students will be written in English.
Online resources
The seminar's Moodle page serves as a comprehensive repository for all the scientific literature reviewed in class, in addition to methodological, thematic and disciplinary resources in multimedia format. It is important to note that a proportion of the teaching activities will be conducted through the medium of Teams. The allocation of (Teams) sub-channels to students is intended to facilitate collaborative endeavours (teamwork).
