AA-FS-TA. Develop expertise and a high level of competence in the field of adapting audio-visual material into French, from two foreign languages, with a view to participating successfully in the professional multilingual audio-visual sector.
Specific learning outcomes on completion of teaching unit
On completing this unit the student is able to:
·         Transcribe, check or correct the script dialogue-list for the source material
·         Sub-title audio-visual productions in miscellaneous domains and genres, 
·         Supply marketable productions, whether working independently or in a team.
 
Content
The course focuses on practical subtitling in real professional conditions. As part of their participation in the Brussels Short Film Festival (BSFF), students will work in groups to produce subtitles for short films. They will transcribe, check or correct the dialogue lists (scripts) of the source documents, subtitle audiovisual works from different genres, and deliver outputs that meet professional standards. Group work will enable students to develop technical expertise and a high level of competence in audiovisual adaptation, working from English into French. All practical activities will be carried out mainly with EZTitles© and will be subject to collective and personalised feedback.
Teaching methods
In-person classes, computer lab equipped with EZTitles© software. 
Attendance is compulsory. 
Group work.
Evaluation methods
For the June session, students in groups of 2 or 3 will submit the subtitles they produced as part of their participation in the BSFF. For the August/September session, students will submit an individual assignment.
The use of generative AI is tolerated within this course. However, students must systematically indicate any sections produced with AI, in line with academic referencing standards.
