Content
This course is divided into four modules:
  • Scientific understanding of climate change
  • International environmental law and climate change
  • International negotiations on climate change
  • Geopolitics of climate change and actions by international institutions
Teaching methods
The course will alternate between lectures and more interactive sessions. The last session in particular will be organized around a role-playing game prepared throughout the semester. For this activity, students will be organized into groups. Practical sessions will be organised as the course progresses.
Evaluation methods
The course will be evaluated in a balanced manner, taking into account
  • the role-play (simulation of an international negotiation on climate change) organised at the end of the course; which includes the preparation of a position paper (written) prior to the negotiation, the student's participation in the negotiations (simulation afternoon) and a final written group report - all these elements will be taken into account in the assessment.
  • the result of a written examination during the exam session. Full participation in the role-play is required in order to register for the exam.
The possible use of artificial intelligence tools during the assessment tests for this course is governed by the rules mentioned in the faculty note on this subject. This note is available on the faculty's intranet site in the information section for students.
When a student is enrolled in the second session and the group work submitted for the first session has been deemed insufficient, the student has the option of submitting new written work, according to procedures that may be adapted depending on the context.
