The short course in Health Economics will provide students with an introduction to economic evaluation methods needed for decision-making in healthcare in developing countries. It will equip students with practical skills on the measurement of health outcomes (QALYs and DALYs) and the identification of costs to be used within cost-effectiveness and cost-utility analyses.
The objective is to understand the role and the methods of cost-effectiveness of healthcare treatment in healthcare decision.
The learning outcome is an understanding of the economic evaluation methods in the context of healthcare.
Teaching methods
The course include 6h lectures and 3h tutorials with practical examples and exercises.
Evaluation methods
Students will be assessed with coursework that includes a one-page research protocol for a hypothetical economic evaluation of an innovative treatment compared to standard care (100%).

Students will find the taught slides on Moodle, along with coursework and relevant articles.
