Evaluation methods
PART A
PART B
As this is a biennial course, if registration for the examinations is authorised in a year when the course is not offered, this course will be assessed by means of a single written examination in session.
- Continuous assessment (Part 1): regular tests on the mastery of morphological and syntactic fundamentals and translation tests during practical sessions, accounting for 20% of the final grade. In the event of an excused absence from one or more tests, a supplementary assessment must be taken during the final week of classes.
- Continuous assessment (Part 2): a translation test will be held during the practical sessions in the second semester, accounting for 15% of the final grade. In the event of failure or a justified absence, a supplementary test must be taken during the final week of classes. IMPORTANT: in the event of an unjustified absence, the course instructor may, according to article 72 of the RGEE, propose that the jury deny the student permission to register for the June or September exam session.
PART B
- A written test assessing mastery of morphology and the theoretical and practical skills covered in class (including translation into Ancient Greek), spread over the January session (10% of the final grade) and the June session (15% of the final grade). This test will account for a total of 25% of the final grade. In the event of failure in the January and/or June test, a retake exam will be held during the September session in all cases, taking the form of a written exam.
- An oral examination assessing the mastery of cursive reading (40 % of the final grade), spread over the January and June sessions. In the event of failure in January and/or June, a retake will be held during the September session in the form of a written exam. Article 82 of the RGEE applies: “If a student sits a part-exam in the January session and passes, he or she shall be examined on the remainder in the June session. If he or she does not sit the June examination, he or she shall lose the benefit of the part-exam. If the student does not pass the January part-exam, he or she shall sit the full exams in the June session. In any event, the September session shall be full exams.”
